At the end of the long road, the young man had finally found that which he had been searching. Lost for so long, driven off the road by forces unseen, his journey was one of worry and sadness. But the stars were always there to guide his way, as angels who were gazing from above, offering their direction. And the wind, as a voice to his ears, told him to keep on going. And thus he ended up here, in a thick grove of trees bordering the prairie, the wind sweeping through the grass, as a wave gently caressing the shore. Relief flooded through the young man. The grove brought peace to the madness which he had faced. It was as a promise of things to come.
In the grove of trees ahead, the young man heard the faint chorus of crickets, and an occasional night bird, flying through the trees ahead. He heard an owl in the distance, a soft hoot that aroused his attention. But there was something more in the sounds of the grove, something more elusive. It was the soft sound of woman's song. It was enchanting, as welcome to his ears as sleep to a restless soul. He continued through the grove, careful not to make noise, not wanting to disturb the beautiful song around him. As he continued through the grove, the song grew louder. It stirred in him feelings he had not felt in so long, feelings that were now barely memorable. As he pushed through one last row of underbrush, he lost his footing on an outcropping of rock covered in moss, hidden by the shadows of the night. He fell headlong into the presence of she who was the source of the beautiful song. Embarrassed at his fall, as well as interrupting the song, his gaze slowly drew up to the woman standing above him.
She was beautiful, and her soft smile enlightened the area around her. Her gaze, though peaceful, hit the young man with a force that took his breath away. It was as if one of the stars had descended from the heavens, an angel amongst the trees. She continued to smile. It was the best gift in which a man could ever wish. The young man wished he could stay in this grove forever.
